Documentary Style Photography

Also known as photojournalistic or reportage photography, is a candid approach to capturing photos. Instead of posed and staged shots, we focus on capturing natural moments as they happen.

Documentary-style wedding photography emphasises capturing spontaneous moments and genuine emotions without directing you or your guests, telling the story of the wedding day through a series of images, from getting ready to the ceremony, reception, and everything in between. We rely on natural light and the environment around us and try to blend into the background, as much as we can with two cameras! This style focuses on the emotions, interactions, and reactions of you and your guests, creating a narrative that reflects the true atmosphere of the wedding, we hope you look back at these photos and are thrown straight into that very moment again.

Why would you want to spend the most emotional part of your wedding day (the period right after the ceremony) away from your friends and family, and instead wandering around the countryside in hot formal wear while the photographer directs you for an hour?



That doesn't mean we will not offer some of those traditional family shots if requested. We understand that this could be one of the only times you have everyone together in one place. Although we focus on capturing the day as it unfolds, we do love small pockets of time with you both as a couple.



Before every wedding we schedule in a consultation for us to get to know each other, building a level of comfort and trust which can result in more relaxed and natural photos on the wedding day. It also helps with planning the logistics of the wedding day.
